I spent an amazing two weeks traveling around Scotland. Flew from Los Angeles to Heathrow (London) and then to Edinburgh. Spent two days in Edinburgh and then off on the adventure in a very nice Volvo XC60 D5 (diesel) for 11 days. Rented the car from Easirent (a great operation with very nice and competent employees - www.easirent.com). A suggestion - purchase full insurance - it’s very different driving on the left. Overnight stops included Stonehaven, Inverness, John o’ Groats, Kylesku, Portree (Isle of Skye), Oban, and lastly Glasgow. I did the trip during the first two weeks of March, 2017 - a bit of rain but a good amount of sunny days - all in all, a really fun and enjoyable trip. My favorite drive - John o’ Groats and the far northern coast to Durness. Skye, too. And the food and lodgings were almost all excellent. You can check out my route map at the bottom of the page.
